Celestial Sun in ArtStrokes
This piece is a GREAT one for the kids.fun AND educational!!
1. The following technique, giving the appearance of translucency, is to be done on properly fired cone 04 bisque, for best results.
2. Antique the entire piece #417 Hot Fudge. When you are antiquing, you can thin with a bit of water, if necessary. Apply paint to entire piece and remove with a wet sponge. Be sure to leave a bit of the color in the crevasses to create shadows.
3. Apply 2 coats of # 403 Lemon Meringue Pie to the face of the sun. Carefully wipe away the color from the eyebrows, nose and eyes.
4. Apply 3 coats of # 414 Orange Sherbet to the rays of the sun, to the top and bottom of Jupiter, and to Venus.
5. Mix equal portions of # 414 Orange Sherbet and # 403 Lemon Meringue Pie. Apply 3 coats of this to Saturn.
6. Apply 1 coat of # 403 Candy Apple to the lips, and stipple 1 coat onto the cheeks. Apply 3 coats around the center of Jupiter and 3 coats in the middle of Venus and all of Mars.
