Horse Bust Dry Brush Technique |
|
| This one is very easy to paint. All horses are different, you really can’t go wrong! Even
the ”Wizard of Oz” has a horse of a different color. |
Step 1 Base coat the entire horse Raven Black except the blaze (center strip down face). Leave that area bisque.
Step 2 Paint the blaze with a mix of Newport Blue and Snow Cap, fading toward nose into a mix of Wild Flower Bouquet and Snow Cap. (You will finish this area in step 10)
Step 3 Dry brush horse with a mix of Salem Brick and a little Raven Black.
Step 4 Dry brush with Salem Brick.
Step 5 Dry brush with a mix of Salem Brick and a little Harvest Moon. Dry brush until you think it is light enough.
Step 6 Dry brush Raven Black on Mane.
Step 7 Dry brush, (with a very dry brush) with a mix of Snow Cap and Newport Blue. Go over the entire horse ever so lightly just to dirty it up a little. It will bring out the mane as well. Go down
into the base of the piece as well.
Step 8 Dry brush base with a mix of Snow Cap, Newport Blue, and a very small amount of Harvest Moon.
Step 9 Place a small dot of Harvest Moon on each eye. Smudge with thumb. Then, place dot of Snow cap over smudge.
Step 10 Dry brush Snow Cap down the blaze. Your horse should be
beautiful. |
